Mrs. Twilight Rita Shoemaker, wife of Francis Shoemaker of MAnheim and a former Ebensburg resident, died at the age of 75 on Feb. 24, 1971 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lancaster.
A native of St. Mary's, whe was born April 23, 1895, a daughter of William and Gene (Giles) Gaster. Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Peggy, wife of Chester Singer, and these brothers and sisters; Jessie, Nina, Anna, Mary, Charles and Thomas.
Mrs. Shoemaker's death ended a marriage union of 54 years. She was a member of St. Richard's Church, Manheim, and Court 680, C. C. of A., Ebensburg.
In addition to her husband, she leaves three children: William J., Romoland, Calif.; Doris R., wife of John A. Zern, Manheim; and Betty, wife of Robert Piper, Titusville, Fla. Also surviving are a nephew, Terry Shoemaker, Manheim, 14 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Friends were received here at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, where a wake service and recital of the Rosary were conducted Friday evening.
Funeral mass on Saturday morning in Holy Name Church, with Rev. Msgr. Francis McCaa as celebrant, was followed by interment in Holy Name Cemetery.

We knew her as "Na Na". We always had fun eating her great deserts and homemade candy. Na Na always looked nice, but never wore a lot of makeup and never was too dressed up.
Maybe you mom remembers the scent on her hankies. For some reason I think all of us kids loved that smell.
Twilight really was her name. Sometimes when I would see pictures of her I would think when she was young whe may have perhaps been a tomboy. Na Na always enjoyed people and was very easy going. If Pop Pop asked her to make a pie, she'd drop everything and bake that pie! She loved babies and kids! Made a pumkin pie that as of this day, no one could ever top it!!
